Happy Monday!

Today I will share my last layout from the Fresh Escapes kit!

YOU MAKE ME SMILE

I used the really pretty teal Hambly screen print paper (the back side of it) and layered with another Hambly screen print-this time the silver doily. This really is a pretty simple layout to put together, most of the embellishment (flowers) were hand cut from the Pink Paislee papers. I flipped the petals and leaves out a bit for some texture on my page and topped each flower off with the Tim Holtz pewter liquid pearls, which is included in the kit! The butterflies are from K & Co, just peel and stick!

Here's more of the pewter liquid pearls being used, this time I tossed in some Martha Stewart glitter and micro beads on top of the wet liquid pearls and just let them dry.

and my title, I mixed up the coral color alpha's with a black alpha I had on hand. But I like the way 2 different fonts/colors look together.

We had such a blast with Basic Grey this week at BlueMoon, my regular Monday post will be featured today...Thursday!

This layout is from the Fresh Escape Kit. I used the lighter colors from the kit to really make my photos POP!

WISH MAKER

I started out with a backside of the Basic Grey paper and layered it with the Hambly Studio peacock feather transparency. I really like the way that came out. I did cut some from the middle of my layout to give my eye a landing spot somewhere on this layout.

And this is where it lands...right on the Pink Paislee Artisan Element Frame. A while back I bought myself the new ChipArt Tool by Melody Ross, GCD Studios. It works awesome on the Artisan Frames. I used the alphabet to punch the phrase, make a wish, and rubbed on some distress ink, used some brown Maya Road mist to get into the little nooks to make it stand out and rubbed the rest of. Very easy!

It's fun to see all the different elements come together on a page. I used the Ranger Liquid Pearls, Pink Paislee Cork Buttons, Prima Flower, K & Co Dragon Fly, the Artisan Rubber Frame

Memorial Day Monday with Melanie!!! and a new kit...

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday!

Today I'm going to share my first layout from the Newest BlueMoon kit called Fresh Escapes.  The colors are perfect with the different shades of greens, blues, oranges, with a touch of black and lovely accent color of coral.

This is my first layout from the kit...

if i could pick the best brother, I'd pick you

I did lots of layering with the different papers, coral trim, Pink Paislee clear border stickers. I ever stitched a bit on the blue paper.

I had fun making these flowers. I used the Pink Paislee Pleated Ribbons. With the green piece, I cut the length in half and sewed the ends together to make the pleated flower and topped it off the the Pink Paislee Cork Buttons. (which is one of favorite things that came out this past winter!) To finish off the flower, I used the gray pleated ribbon for a stem.

I used a different set of alpha that came in the kit, I think it's fun to mix up the font and font sizes. Which you can still do because there are not 1 but 2 sets of alpha's included in the kit!

Recycle Your Mist Challenge at BlueMoon this Month...and a new kit!

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle- famous words by Bob the Builder.  Let's do it!   Sure anyone can recycle their weekly garbage, but have you recycled  your scrapbooking mists?

Let's play a Recycled Mist Challenge -use your leftover misted  ink.

Playing with paper, sticker, chipboard, tissue, paper towels, paper  bags... that has been recycled from leftover mist as the main  challenge.  Using your Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Maya Road Mist,  Smooch or own version made with re-inkers and a Ranger mini mister...

Here's how:
Spray your regular projects and keep the underneath layer to cut up or  use whole.  If you spray on a craft sheet, use the leftover mist on the  craft sheet for your project.

Here's my take on the challenge...

I didn't know where this project was heading, I just started to spray my green scalloped cardstock. I put in on a piece of kraft paper for photographing results...but in the end, I ended up using it instead of tossing it. Now that's recycling!

I ended up with a cool masked look after spraying...

After looking at the piece of kraft paper, I liked that as my background paper instead of the green scalloped which I was going to use. My little tip here to use up this leftover mist is too...

add shading to your layout. Just grab a piece of paper towel and dip it in the mist and use a circular swirl motion over the edges of the layout. It gives the edges a finished shaded look. I think a dry stencil brush would give a cool look too.

I also recycled those circles I had misted last week in my attempt to make those "show boards"...remember those (you can read about it here in this post!) and used them on this layout. Those circles are the ones misted with the  Maya Road Mists  just incase you were wondering.

ok, back to the green scalloped circle. Since I decided to use the other piece as the background, I cut the green  scalloped paper to represent one of those thinking or day dreaming bubbles. I used just leftover bits and pieces I had. Soo fun and my son loved the end result. Do you see the little cloud of smoke by the car...that was his idea. LOL!

All the pattern paper in this layout is the 6x6 Sassafras papers. Even though they are smaller, they still work well on large layouts. Don't limit yourself just because the papers are small. Those papers can be seen here!
I can't wait to see those Recycled mist layouts in the gallery. We have fun looking at the submissions each month. Post your entry anytime before June 19th  in the BlueMoonGallery.   Upload a 4x6 with 72 resolution - this works best.  If you're having  issues uploading it's usually because the image is too big/large a file.    Resize it and you're off to the races.  If you have problems email lisa@bluemoonscrapbooking.com.You can enter 1 layout per challenge.Open to all US and International  Scrappers. A winner will  be chosen the week of June 21st.

Don't worry I didn't take the day off, even though it's my birthday. I worked on a little project for myself this weekend. It's no secret I love mist..any mist...Tattered Angels, Maya Road, Shimmerz, Luminarte. This past week I was organizing and pulled out all my mist out from my drawer. To my surprise after looking each one over, I didn't have one duplicates...yet.But, I needed a way to organize them. Every time I would want to buy some mist online I have to haul piles of them up the stairs and set them up in front of the computer and then order.

My first thought was to spray pieces 3x3 square of paper, cut them out with a circle punch-label each color under it and make show boards. Great idea, but them I would have a pile of show boards. I don't have the room for them and 50 bottles of mist. Here's take 1 on that idea before I came up with a better idea...

 don't worry, these will not go to waste, I'll find use for them!

On Saturday, I went to a craft store and found these small pre-punch tags really cheap. I sprayed each tag with a different color and grouped them by manufacture. I have Tattered Angles, Maya Road, Luminarte and Shimmerz.

I found it interested after spraying the tags and seeing the finished results. The way the colors looked and the way they sprayed out of the bottle.

These are the Maya Road Tags, they are rich in color and have a nice full coverage. I notice after they dried these were the only tags that stayed flat and didn't curl up.I have no idea why or the reason behind it, but thought it was cool.

These are the Tattered Angels tags...

Isn't it interesting to see the cool textures that come out of the Tattered Angles bottles. I guess that's were the "tattered" word comes from.

I'm glad I redid the tags and used the "tag and bookrings." They will be easier to carry up the step, to my computer so when I place my order at BlueMoon I can just site and look at my sample pieces.

I recently just decided to add a 5th book because of the new Tattered Angels Chalk Mists, have you seen these? BlueMoon just got them in and you can purchase them here!

A Monday with Melanie...the last of the "Man" kit!

Hello! Today I'm going to share my last layout from the BlueMoon's Man Scrapbooking Kit!

FALL OF 1946 

As soon as a I seen the paper car graphic in the Graphic 45 paper, I knew exactly what photo I wanted to scrap. Meet Chet and Bev, my in-laws. They were married in the fall of 1946!

I used my paper punches on the 7 Gypsies Graffer Tape just to give a different look. This is the car I was talking about before. So cool!

The door is from the Teresa Collins WELCOME HOME paper. I embellished the handle with a vintage glass looking bead.

Melanie's Monday post---Using the MAN kit

Hello!!! I'm still working with the BlueMoon Scrapbooking Man kit and having fun with it! Today I would like to share this layout called...

My Little Gentleman 

Did you see the little tiny top hat I cut out of the paper and placed it on Kaden's head in the first picture? Just wanted to add a fun, unexpected element to the photo. I mostly used the Graphic 45, A Proper Gentleman Papers. They always have the cool vintage items to cut out. On this close-up I used a piece of the paper as my title piece and inked the edges with some Tim Holtz Distress Inks.The clock is also cut out from the pattern paper and popped up with a pop-dot. Easy embellishment! The feather is included in the kit, it's from K & Company.

Here I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Canvas Border and edged with a 7 Gypsies Rubber Band which I cut and stretched to the length of my layout. You'll see lots of great texture here...canvas, rubber ban, paper, metal, embroidery thread and pattern paper. LOVE IT!

Melanie's Monday post...with a new kit!!!

It's time for a new kit at BlueMoon. This kit is a little different from the kits I have received in the past. It's definitely more manly in color and embellishments (that don't mean it's just for men though!). There's some cool feathers, a fun looking alphabet, lots of cool papers from Graphic 45. A great blue and brown color combo! 

The first layout is called:

BECAUSE OF YOU

It seems like I mostly scrapbook my children, but my husband needs to have a page once in a while too! This hobby is about memories right!

you guessed it...poem time! I used the tiny type letters by Cosmo Cricket. Poems are a great way to fill up empty space.

The paper tape measure was cut out from the A Proper Gentleman Graphic 45 paper, they are lots of fun  elements like the story tickets included in the kit. I made little patches because I wanted to incorporate some plaid into the layout because it matched my husbands shirt.

Did you catch the hand-stitching? Bazzill has these really cool products called Bazzill in Stitch'z Floss and Needles. The thread colors are in blue's and browns. Absolutely a perfect compliment to this kit!

The K & Company letters are fun. I cut them out and after gluing them down I felt they needed just a little bit of extra omph...so I applied a layer of Glossy Accents to the top of them, now they're shiny and have a little more dimension.
