Spring inspired......

Hi chic-a-dee's how are you doing? Sorry for the delay on posting but I'm finally here to share a few creations for our current challenge to use cardboard and something from the hardware store. I have 3 creations to share today.....the 1st was inspired by my finds in the gardening section of the hardware store....the 2nd the beginnings of my very first mini album.....and the 3rd a sneak peek at a 3D rose painted with Claudine Helmuth's paint ....I'll share the rest of the album and the rose's new home on Wednesday's post....

So here are the details for the challenge:
You live in a rural County, in fact so rural the closest scrapbooking store is many miles away and you get the chance to shop only once in a while. You shop online normally, at… joy, oh joy...Blue Moon Scrapbooking!! On a whimsy, your neighbor says “I’m going to town, want a lift?” Well, you hop in and the neighbor says “I’ll drop you off and pick you up in a bit”. Fabulous – except you have been dropped off at the hardware store with only cardboard shapes, nuts and bolts, wire and mesh… available. Time to push the creativity button as you work with the supplies from the hardware store.

The design team played with Donna Salazar shapes and borders which are fabulous corrugated cardboard shapes and so much fun to create with!

First up....a few seed packets pretty’d up with my "favoritists"….like Webster’s......and K & Co pattern paper, ribbon, vintage lace and buttons….wrapped snuggly with the scalloped edge cardboard in the set....it's also been glitzed up with a bit more pretty paper and ribbon….and topped off with a button…...
…...perhaps a tad “over the top”…...since they are in fact just seed packets… but in my world every little something deserves a dash of lovey-dovey sweetness….. ….and with an extra little envelope for a note and perhaps a Home Depot gift card wouldn’t it be a charming gift for a new homeowner….or perhaps an avid gardener…..
....next the beginnings of my very first mini album....and I must say they are indeed a challenge to create, phew! The first "page" has my usuals like ribbon and buttons and pretty paper......
....a bit of gathered mesh alongside the ribbon and buttons adds a springy, out doors'y sort of touch that I love.....
...and of course you can't have a mini album without a pocket and a little note card.....
....the 2nd "page" is just a few layers of pretty paper.....some covering a little more of the cardboard from the set.....and another pocket with a place for a few pics and notes....
...I must say these cardboard shapes are perfect to add dimension to any project....and they are flexible too....with just enough give to bend a bit....
...the 3rd page features the heart shape cardboard along with more bits of pretty paper and pearls....
....it's also been given a dash of girliness with ribbon, pearls and paper.....it fits just perfectly inside a pocket made from a vintage flower.....
....and on the other side of the heart a bit of space for a few words of love....
....the 4th and last page for today features an enchanting scene from a Webster's Page has been embellished with an umbrella to shade the lovely swan from the sun.....
........it was created by adhering one of the borders from the set to a piece of cardboard from my Chinese take-out.......then covered in matching pattern paper...ribbon...and buttons.....
.....and for the lovely waves of water....how about two more pieces from the set covered in pattern paper....this border happens to have the perfect edge to seem like little waves.....
....so now I leave you with a sneak peek at a little something I'm creating....every so often I get my hands back into creating my 3D rose and I've been dying to create a yellow one for a while now.....so when I received the Claudine Helmuth paint in the kit I knew it was time......
....to create this rose I stamped the image on water color paper 5 times then painted it with the paint....which I must say is the BEST crafter's paint around...petal by petal I cut and created the roses....then added a layer of glassy effects to offer a porcelain-like feel....and a touch of glitter on the edges for a bit of elegance.....don't know yet where she's going though....perhaps a card....or something else....hmmmm
....so now I'd love to see what you can create with some cardboard and a little something from the hardware store....be sure to upload them to our gallery! Remember $40 is up for grabs for the winner.....so give it a go...ya' never know:)

*welcome spring* :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Julie here to share with you my take on BlueMoon's latest challenge!!! I had a TON of fun with this challenge!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Here is the challenge! :)

Last month I posted a cabinet I altered for my Kodak camera collection....well....what no one saw of my cabinet is that before I altered it....I removed the cabinet's door...holding onto it for just the right moment!! Well...that moment came when I got word of this latest challenge!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I painted the cabinet's door with a crackle paint base...and then covered it with Claudine Hellmuth's Studio paint....and since I had the Yellow Pastel (YUMMY YUMMY color!!!) I thought of Spring!!!! Soooooooooo then this whole project just came together for me! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I made a wall hanging to *welcome spring* :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I also used Donna Salazer's chipboard pieces and painted those! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I also painted some mesh that I had to match my *spring* colors! :):):):):):) And then since I was at the *hardware* store...I picked me up some FUN color wires and made them a little *spring-y* ... (lol! sorry for the bad pun there!) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I seriously had a BLAST making this!!!! And I am loving how it turned out! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) I am hoping that U all can PLAY ALONG!!!!!!
:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Catching up!

Hey everyone,it's Fauve here!It has been a while since i posted because i had some huge computer problems.People who know me,know that i can't live without my computer...It was hard!!(Glad to have Windows Live Messenger on my phone!)Kids have vacation so they kept me busy. But i just wanted to say sorry for keeping you up so long and i am really glad to be back!! :)

So first of all,i tried to make another card.I wanted to use some girly colors too,so i added the pink from my own stash. But all the other products are available at the BlueMoonScrapbooking shop!I especially love the tape...You can use it in so many way's!
Here is a layout i made for a friend.I simply adore these beautiful pictures from her daughter Molly dressed up as Alice in Wonderland.I used the little crystal stickers as centers for the rub on flowers and added them to the second picture.I love how the background paper is matching her jacket.I curled the flower stems to give it a more whymsical feel to complete the "Alice look".Okay so when i opened my Natural Livings kit, this background paper was the first that noticed me.It's a beautiful color cream and the text on the background faded in places.I couldn't wait to get started with it.First i covered the paper with gesso and removed it with a babywipe. Then i added cream chalk,to fade the background some more. After that i used the Tim Holtz Antique Linnen Distress Ink to give the page a more of a vintage look.I also crumbled the paper a bit to make it look older. Then i burnt the outer edge of the Jenni Bowlin bingo card.Besides the great look,it was also a lot of fun to do!So did you read about the February challenge?Fun!I was thinking about what to do with the cardboard shapes from Donna Salazer.I was thinking about painting them,or remove the top coat of the cardboard. But then i realized that the shape and color are so fab that i just wanted to use it like this.I think it really pops out, don't you think??
My hardware item would be the hinges. It's actually meant to be used to flip, but i just wanted to use it as an embellishment ha!So that's it for now!All my free time without computer made me lock myself in my scraproom,so lot's to show with the upcoming kit.And sorry again everyone, hope you enjoyed my post.

Have a great weekend!Love Fauve

Cardboard, Burlap and screws....oh my!!

If you missed it...Bluemoon Scrapbooking just awarded a $40.00 GIFT CERTIFICATE to Bettie for her creation of her LO created for last month's challenge. Read all about it HERE!!

Do you want a chance to win a $40.00 GC as well???

Here's the March Challenge Set Up:

(my version of the continuation of this story....)

When I entered the hardware store, I immediately saw the possibilities!! I started to gather up my 'supplies' and though I would create an impromptu LO, right then and there! The sales lady thought I was 'nuts' (no pun intended), but she encouraged me along!

I gathered up cardboard shapes, just like these byDonna Salazer

, and some paint (Claudine Hellmuth), some screws that were just laying around, and burlap and mesh!! I added some other things along the way too.

By this time, I had a bunch of people watching, and I started to create.

First I painted the cardboard shapes, using paper towel, btw. It helped to create a speckled effect.

I just happened to have my glimmer mist in my purse (ok, so I'm stretching a bit....but it's all for fun, right? lol). I used the Glimmer Mist to brighten up the cardboard shapes!
I ran to the next section of the store and picked up some twine. which I used to wrap around the acrdboard pieces.

Then I took pieces of burlap and overlaped them to create a flower!

I used some hemp cord to tie the pieces together.

Putting all these items together, I created this!

As you can see, I also used a big piece of cardboard for the background of my LO, as well!!

Here are some closeups of the finished project!!

So, you never know what could happen when a scrapbooker enters a Hardware store!!

The BlueMoon challenge this month is to create a LO/project using items that you would find in a Hardware store. Your projects does not have to be as detailed as the one I just showed you, but I hope I've given your some ideas of what to use and how you could use a variety of different items!

Have fun with it....and please...don't forget to upload your creation by March 20th to the Blue Moon Scrapbooking Gallery.

Can I get a side of cardboard with that?

...you live in a rural county, in fact so rural the closest scrapbooking store is many miles away and you get the chance to shop only once in a while. You shop online normally at BlueMoon Scrapbooking! On a whimsy, your neighbor says, "I'm going to town, want a lift?" Well, you hop in and the neighbor says, "I'll drop you off and pick you up in a bit." Fabulous!-except you have been dropped off at the hardware store with only cardboard shapes, nuts and bolts, wire and mesh available. Time to push the creativity button as you work with the supplies from the hardware store.

This is your next challenge!!

Lisa sent the DT the new Donna Salazer Shapes and Borders Die Cut Corrugated Cardboard to use for the challenge. I am not going to lie.....my first thought was hmm.... what in the world am I going to do with this?
After I got the paints, mist and gesso out...I REALLY couldn't STOP creating with all the shapes!!! So, rather than show you one project, I thought that I would share some techniques to help you get those creative juices flowing for this next challenge!
This is one of the pages of a mini album I am working on. You will be seeing the whole thing very very soon. I think the borders on this sheet just scream banners. Banners are so in right now.

The I used 7Gypsies Avignon paper / Orchestra. I sprayed two light-medium coats of Maya Road Blue Raspberry mist.
Can't wait to show you more of this mini!

You can also cover the shapes with paper, acrylic paint and rub ons. I told you...the possibilities are endless!
On the cloud, I used some scrap from 7gypsies BARCELONA Paper - Catalonia and coated it with Tim Holtz's clear crackle glaze. But, you should see all the cool crackle paint BMS has to offer! It is so much fun to paint and distress with this stuff!
I used 7Gypsies rub ons on the heart.

Do you remember the beginning of my Life and Art Journal? I had abused that doily...but, for very artistic purposes? Well, I am going to show you a little trick I learned from the great Dina.
Using the negative of your shape, paint a pretty thick layer of gesso on your page. You can make it as smooth or textured as you like.
Let it dry for awhile. But, before it's completely dry, use spray ink to give it color and more dimension (while the chipboard is still on your paper). I used Tattered Angels Cherry Limeade.
It has such a cool effect, don't ya think?

Well, what are you waiting for?? Get on it!! Have some fun with this challenge and push yourselves to think outside of the box! And don't forget to load your projects up to the BMS gallery!
