Mixing the OLD with the NEW - by Lynnette Davis

I LOVE getting new goodies to play with but I must not forget about all of the stuff I have in my stash that I can mix in with the new stuff. I don't like to call myself a hoarder. Mainly because of how grossed out I get with that new TV show that came out called HOARDERS. Ewe! BUT I will say that I hold on to my favorite stuff longer than I should. So, I said forget it! I might as well use the stuff. It would look prettier on my projects than in storage anyhow.

I took my NATURAL LIVING KIT and mixed it with some older and newer goodies to give a bit of contrast to my LO's. I love splashes of bold colors every now and then. So I thought throwing in a bit of turquoise would do just the trick! Boy, did it ever! This first LO titled HAWAII is of my 2 boys and I at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie on Oahu, Hawaii. If you've never been to Hawaii and you plan to go sometime for vacation I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to the PCC. It will give you a whole better insight to the culture of the polynesian people and it will probably be the most fun you will have in Hawaii HANDS DOWN!!!

I was born and raised in Hawaii and while growing up the PCC was always such a fun place to go to. I took my husband there on his first visit to Hawaii. Out of all the fun and exciting things we did on our vacation he said that was his overall favorite time. Everyone seems to say that after going. My husband walked out of there and was suggesting we go there the very next day again. :-) They put on some awesome shows and it's such a good time! Anyway......

My boys loved it there and here they are eating shave ice with me. It was so big we had to share.
I used the Graphic45 and Chatterbox patterned papers as well as the Basic Grey Origins - Bloomers that you can find in the NATURAL LIVING KIT. I also used K&Company Handmade Feathers that you can purchase individually in the BMS store.
I bought the package of feathers specifically for the peacock feather. I have earrings and a necklace that I wore this particular day that is made of peacock feathers and so it turned out to be the perfect embellishment.
This second LO is of my dear husband and son. I LOVED this picture of them next to the breaking waves of the ocean onto the rocks.
You gotta roll with the punches
That's the way it goes
You gotta.....................
Bend when the Wind Blows
For this LO I used the beautiful Basic Grey Tracery Brown Doilies and the Tattered Angels Bingo Card from the NATURAL LIVING KIT. I also used K&Company Que Sera Sera Chipboard, Basic Grey Granola Element Stickers and 7Gypsies Barcelona Terrassa Paper that you can purchase individually in the BMS store.
I also created this LO of my other son using some of the NATURAL LIVING KIT. I LOVE how GRAND this kit is. You can create SO much and still have LOTS of leftover goodies to play with later.
I used the 7Gypsies and Basic Grey patterned papers, the Basic Grey Brads and the ticket from the NATURAL LIVING KIT.
And last but not least is my LO of my cousin and her son.
It is the little moments that make life BIG
I used the Basic Grey Origins - Mud Mask Patterned Paper and Ranger Stickles in Golden Rod that you can purchase in the BMS store.
That's all I have for you this weekend but check back again next Saturday for my post and all throughout the week for more ideas from the rest of the team.
Don't forget to participate in the DOILIES/VINTAGE PHOTO challenge and upload your projects to the BMS Gallery for your chance to win a $40 Shopping Spree in the BMS store!!!
Also, have a Happy Valentine's Day and may you all have a blessed weekend!!!
